  • New Year, New...Me?

I once believed that physical labor was far more taxing on the body than mental. After all, look at how tired the average manual laborer is after a full day on the job. Compare that to someone who just sits at a desk in front of a computer all day. Easy answer, right?

Well, I've matured out of that mindset.

For those who have not been following me on Twitter, you are about to hear a confession. I'm turning into a geek. Yes, after all the years that internet and computers and websites and blogs have been a part of our lives, I am finally delving into the strange (for me) world of html, zip files, hosting, plugins, stylesheet, wordpress, cpanels and a hundred other things I've forgotten already.

All this...to create our own blog.

You wouldn't know it from the surface, but it took me two days just to figure out how to install an error free template, and over 10 plugins have gone into the blog already. Each time I add five new things, five more go on my to do list. I'm glad I didn't know what I was getting into when I started this little project or I would have put it off once again. "Oh someday we'll get into building our own sites...let's just stick to the easy stuff right now."

    "Someday" has come

And I'm glad it has. Because, oddly enough, I'm actually starting to enjoy this mental labor. I'm not a real "geek" yet, but there is plenty of evidence I'm heading in that direction. The age of growing and learning have just begun for me.

So how did I come to my final conclusion that mental labor equals or outweighs physical?

I stayed in bed until 1:30pm today.
